Loss...

So I don't know if I'm going to make a regular point of this but a celebrity of sorts has died from breast cancer. Producer Mary-Ellis Bunim, created shows such as "The Real World," "Road Rules," and "Making the Band." Man, I don't know how many hours of my life were wasted watching entertaining drivel.

However, I do have to acknowledge a motivational point she's created in my life. I'm not addicted to another show of her creation, "Starting Over." I love it. Can't get enough of it. This six women go through all sorts of turbulence to learn to be better people. I mean, you get to watch real tranformation, not just the drama of roommates or such. Prolly 'cause I feel as though I'm starting to learn, to transform too. 'cept I would have to say that I was starting to "finish things."

I'm going to put her name on my shirt. I never knew her personally but she has made an impression on my life - bad and great.

what crazy luck...

One of my jobbers not only started me on a new project with a pay raise but its for the Komen Foundation! And I'm going to get trained for this. So I'm going to get paid for something I'm doing research on anyways. Neat, huh?

Walk a 1000 miles...

I love that the Vanessa Carlson song is linked up to all the AvonWalk ads... its a great way to start the day when I wake up to it on the radio. Funny it was way played out...but I like it again:

Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles

Making my way down town
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you... tonight

It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever think of me

Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in
Your precious memory

Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by,oh
Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you... tonight

And I, I don't wanna let you know
I, I drown in your memory
I, I don't wanna let this go
I, I've fallen...

Making my way down town
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time, would pass us by
Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by
Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...
If I could just hold you... tonight

First things first

And here's the first entry

Of course got the idea from MK with whom I went to the my first get started meeting downtown. Interesting highlights:

-We were so giggly and excited as I registered, it had the person working at the table have to ask us: " You two are 18 years old, right?" Me and MK look at each other and start laughing even more.

-Gotta a nice little goody bag with information and donation receipts and the OFFICIAL t-shirt and meal bar {MK gave me hers; it had dairy in it.} and a little stuffed bear ;)

-Watched an inspiring video presentation that mostly contained footage from the 2003 Walk. It rained the last bit. As awful as it sounds, it looked as though everyone had fun. I'm *almost* hoping for the same kinda luck.

-There was an interesting presentation of where our contributions go to. This is what struck me most. The Y-Me program makes sure to have translators of about 150 different languages. Top two languages used: Spanish and Mandarin/Cantonese. I'm going to do a little bit more research on breast cancer and the Asian/Asian American community. I'll let y'all know what I find.
